Stompers Fall to the Prune Packers

The Stompers hosted the Prune Packers in Sonoma for the second game of a four game series. The Packers would win the game 7-2.

The Prune Packers come into this game atop the CCL North standings, four games ahead of the second place Walnut Creek Crawdads and their offense would get off to a hot start as they would jump out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning.

Chase Minor would start for the Stompers and would be extremely dominant through five innings of work, only giving up the two runs in the second.

The Stompers would cut the lead in half thanks to an RBI base hit by Isaiah Velasco.

Healdsburg would tack on some insurance runs in the sixth, eighth and ninth innings on a pair of doubles and a home run from Peyton Schulze. He would finish with four RBIs.

The Stompers would score one in the ninth but otherwise be unable to get anything else going.

The Stompers take on the Prune Packers on July 9 in Healdsburg with a noon start and then again in Sonoma on July 10 with the game starting at 6:05. Tickets for the home game can be purchased at stomperbaseball.com

Iparraguirre, Stompers Rally in the Middle Innings to Beat the Knicks

The Stompers would host the Novato Knicks on Thursday night at Arnold Field. 

Sonoma would get the action going in the bottom half of the first on a double by Xabier Iparraguirre.

The Knicks would get it back and some more in the top half of the second as they would score three runs on just two hits including a RBI base hit from Cooper Callison.

Both offenses would be quiet until the sixth inning when the Knick would score one run thanks to Cooper Callison again.

The Stompers would fight in the bottom half of the sixth and tie it up at 4-4 as Iparraguirre would hit a two run home run and Ryan Martinez would hit an RBI double.

Novato would retake the lead in the seventh on a Braeden Holliday would hit an RBI single.

The Stompers would stomp in the seventh as every Stompers player in the lineup would hit and they would score five runs on three hits. Noah Rabin would pinch hit and hit a two RBI triple and a pair of singles from Alfredo Capacete and Mikey Bell.

The score would stay right there at 9-5 and the Stompers would pick up the win.

Sebastiani to Start for the Stompers

SONOMA, Calif - Nicholas Sebastiani, an incoming senior at Sonoma Valley High School, will  make his Stompers debut on the 4th of July game. Sebastiani in his varsity career sports a .320 avg, 13 XBH, 11-13 SB, and a 3.63 ERA across 34.2 innings pitched on varsity. “Nick has a promising future in front of him as he has projectable tools, high baseball IQ and strong work ethic”, says Eddie Mora-Loera, GM of the Stompers. Nick will have the opportunity to get his first taste of collegiate competition against the Menlo Park Legends Tuesday, July 4th at 5:10pm.  

Stompers have won 7 of their last 10 games including winning two of three against the Lincoln Potters this week.

In the second game of the series, the Stompers and Potters were all knotted up at two runs a piece going into the ninth inning. The Potters would score three runs in the top half of the inning as Tyler Gerety would hit a two run double but the Stompers would score four runs of their own in the bottom half of the ninth inning. Derek Tenney and would later win as Xabier Iparraguierra would score on a walk-off wild pitch.

Recently, for the Stompers, Outfielder Noah Rabin has been outstanding tracking down balls in the outfield and swinging the bat in the leadoff spot. In the three game series against the Potters, he went 5 for 8 with a home run and two RBIs. Defensively, in Lincoln on Thursday, he made 8 outs including a spectacular play in game three racing 44 feet to the right field corner to track down a ball that would end a Lincoln rally.

This weekend, the Stompers take on Sonoma County rivals, the Healdsburg Prune Packers in a three game series and the take on the Menlo Park Legends on the 4th of July. The 4th of July game starts at 5:10 with a fireworks show to follow. Patrons with a ticket to the Stompers game will be able to lay out on the outfield grass after the game for the historic fourth of July firework show. 

4 Homerun in Sonoma in the Wine Country Showdown

The Healdsburg Prune Packers traveled to take on the Sonoma Stompers in the Wine Country Showdown at Arnold Field. 

The scoring would begin in the fourth inning. Healdsburg would get on the board when a fielder’s choice scored Will Hodo. For the Stompers, their run would come on a solo home run from Xabier Iparraiguerra that traveled 383 feet to left-center field.

The Stompers would then take the lead in the fifth inning on a Tyler Martinez home run.

The Prune Packers would score one run in the sixth inning on an RBI single to tie the game and two runs in the seventh on a two run home run from Hunter Dorraugh and a solo home run from Cameron Nickens.

The Stompers would end up losing the game 5-2. The Stompers will travel to Healdsburg tomorrow, July 1, for the second game on the three game series. Game three will be back in Sonoma with a 1:05 p.m. start time. Get tickets to the game at stompersbaseball.com

Stompers Win on a Walk Off Wild Pitch!

The Lincoln Potters would travel to Sonoma to take on the Stompers in the second game of a three game series.

The Stompers would get off to a hot start scoring two runs in the first inning both on bases loaded walks.

For the Potters, they would answer right away in the top half of the second with a two run home run. 

Orlando Leon Jr. would start for the Stompers and have a good outing giving up only two hits in four and two-thirds innings pitched.

The game would stay tied all the way until the ninth inning when the Potters would get three runs in the top half of the ninth inning to make the game 5-2.

The Stompers would not quit there though, rallying together runs on a few walks and a two-run double by Derek Tenney that tied the game up. The Stompers would end up walking it off on a wild pitch as Xabier Iparraguirre would come in to score.

Stompers Bats Continue to Come Alive

SONOMA - The Stompers have gotten off to a hot start in non-conference play, but in conference play they have had a tougher time.

The Stompers picked up a big win against the Mudcats on June 21 in comeback fashion as the Stompers would score two in the seventh inning and six more in the eighth, thanks to pinch hit RBIs from Logan Azem and Brandon Marion, picking up a 8-4 victory.

The Stompers bats have been solid up to this point, but the pitching has been subpar to start. The pitching, which resembles a small football roster, has shown signs of improvements in recent games against the Walnut Creek Crawdads on June 11,  and the Novato Knicks on June 16 and 17. A player to watch out of the bullpen is closer Sean Flowers, who has a 2.57 ERA with nine strikeouts in seven innings of work.

It’s not all bad for the Stompers, as their current record is 13-9 overall. The 12 wins have come from opponents in-conference and non-conference such as the Alameda Anchors, Novato Knicks, and Fresno Athletics. Highlights for the Stompers early in the season, have been the Martinez brothers who individually hit grand slams in the same game against the Alameda Anchors. This is the first time in franchise history that a pair of brothers have each hit a grandslam in a season let alone the same game.

Arnold Field has been electric since the start of the season with Athletics Hall of Famer, Dave Stewart and Sonoma Mayor, Sandra Lowe throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. The Stompers started the season with 685 fans in attendance on Opening night. Sonoma Little League Night and Pride Night, which are staple promotional nights, saw a combined 900 fans. Pride Night, a dedication to former Stompers pitcher, Sean Conroy, who was the first openly gay professional baseball player. 

The Stompers will finish their three game series against the Mudcats on June 22 at 5pm in Solano. Returning back to Arnold Field on Friday and Saturday against the East Bay Admirals and Menlo Park Legends with a 6:05pm first pitch for both games. The Stompers have partnered with Parkpoint Health Clubs to bring Health and Wellness night to Arnold Field on Friday, June 23rd. Parkpoint Health Clubs is the official gym of the Sonoma Stompers. Stompers Rally but Fall Short to the Admirals

The Stompers hosted the Admirals on Friday at Arnold Field.

The Admirals would get off to a hot start tallying one run in both the second and third but the Stompers would stomp back in the bottom of the fourth inning.

In the fourth, the Stompers would score three thanks to a Jag Burden three-run home run that was hit 368 feet over the wall in right field.

The Admirals would not go away without a fight however, scoring two of their own in the sixth inning and retaking the lead at 4-3.

Stompers pitcher Riley Phelan would do a good job keeping it close, giving the Stompers 1.2 innings pitched and only allowing one hit.

The Stompers would be unable to score and the Admirals would tack on four more insurance runs in the top half of the ninth inning and ultimately the Admirals would take the 8-3 victory.

Stompers Comeback to Beat the Solano Mudcats

The Sonoma Stompers hosted the Solano Mudcats on Wednesday for the middle game of a three-game series.

The Stompers would get off to a very slow start and the Mudcats would capitalize by scoring two runs in the first and another two runs in the fourth to quickly jump out to a 4-0 lead.

Sonoma would not go down without a fight however as they would come alive in the seventh and the eighth innings. The Stompers would get it going in the seventh, scoring a pair of runs, taking advantage of pitching mistakes by the Mudcats and then score on an RBI groundout from Jag Burden.

They would continue to rally and take the lead in the eighth inning on some exceptional bat work and great eyes from all Stompers batters as they would rally for six runs. Logan Azem was the highlight, driving in the go-ahead run with an RBI-single to give the Stompers a 5-4 lead. The Stompers would add on three runs after that. 

Hayden Hall would come in for the Stompers and get the save and the Stompers would improve to 12-9 on the season.

Stompers sweep the Knicks in a two game series

The Sonoma Stompers and Novato Knicks faced off again for the backend of a quick two game series.

Stomper's pitching would be dominant to start the game as Bryant Thornton would only give up one hit in four and a third innings.

The Stompers would strike first in the third inning scoring two runs thanks to the Martinez brothers with some good base running and a hit by Tyler Martinez. 

The Knicks would strike back in the seventh and score one but to no avail as the Stompers would score two of their own in the seventh.

Sean Flowers would come in and deal the last three outs and record the save for the Stompers pushing them to 11-8 on the season.

The Stompers will face the Solano Mudcats in a three-game series starting on Tuesday with the game on Wednesday at Arnold Field.

Stompers dominate for their 10th win of the season

On Friday, the Stompers hosted the Novato Knicks in a non-league game at Arnold Field.

Both teams got off to a hot start as the Knicks rallied together a few hits and scored one in the first inning on an RBI single by Joey Taddie. 

The Stompers would stomp back in the bottom half of the inning and score four of their own including a one-run triple from Xabier Iparraguire that was crushed to center field that was hit 408 feet!

The Knicks would try to scratch and claw their way back into the game scoring one in the third. 

The Stompers would not let it get close though as they would score five more in the fourth highlighted by an Omar Gastelum two-run home run. Following the blast was an extra base hit from Wyatt Davis. They would extend the lead to 9-2.

The Stompers bats continued to stay hot as Logan Azem would rope a two-run triple down the right field in a three-run sixth inning to extend the lead to 12-2.

Sonoma would tack on one more in the seventh thanks to a Gastelum double and the Knicks would score one of their own for good measure in the eighth. 

The final would be 13-3 as the Stompers would record their 10th win of the season.
